Concealed Carry Application Process
- Applicant Must attend a Basic Pistol (Concealed Carry) class, pass and receive certificate of completion.
- Applicants must be a legal resident of the United States and an Ohio resident for 45 days before applying for CCW license. Applicants must also be a resident of the county or adjoining county where they are applying for at least 30 days. Applicant must also be at least 21 years of age and not a fugitive from justice.
- The fee for initial CCW License is 67.00 (at the sheriff's dept.) if the applicant has been a resident of the state of Ohio for the past five consecutive years, or 91.00 if the applicant has not been a resident of the state of Ohio for the past five consecutive years.
- The fee for renewal of the CCW License is 50.00 if the applicant has been a resident of the state of Ohio for the past five consecutive years, of 74.00 if the applicant has not been a resident of the state of Ohio for the past five consecutive years.
- The Sheriff's office will accept: cash, personal checks, money orders or cashiers check.
- The applications can be picked up at the Sheriff's Dept. or can be printed from the Ohio Attorney General's Web Page. (You will receive the application in our class)
- The applicant needs to submit a current color photograph (1 1/2 x 2") (this is not the photo that will be on your Conceal Carry License)
- When submitting the application, the applicant should provide the Sheriff's office the training certificate, (which you will receive at the completion of the class) this will include the instructors name, training number and date of training A valid drivers license.
- The applicant should wait and sign the application when submitting the application.
- For submitting the application, and having finger prints taken for the back round check, it is highly recommended to call The Sheriff's Dept. you intend to apply at to see if appointments are required.
- When the back round check is complete, the applicant will receive a call from the Sheriff's Dept. to pick up their CCW license. The photo for your license will be taken at this time.
- When a CCW license holder moves within the state of Ohio, the license holder is required to inform the issuing Sheriff of the move within 20 days.
